A Reminder to a Solution for Some Capture Problems

Post by Black Lab »

Last night as I began capturing some footage a notice popped up reminding me to update my Norton Anti-virus. Not wanting to forget, I left the notice up while I finished my capturing. After a few minutes I started dropping frames like crazy then would get "Video Studio has encountered a problem and must close". I was pulling my hair out because this problem had never happened before. I eventually closed the Norton reminder and voila, capture went smoothly from that point on. So this is just a reminder for those of you out there that may encounter a problem from time to time that you really do need to shut down everything that is not needed while using Video Studio. (Funny how the simplest things can cause the most frustration  )[/u]

I would also exclude the capture directory from any AV scans, period. You don't need those huge video files scanned while UVS is trying to write them, it will take precious computer resources that you may not be able to spare during capture.
