PI loses my settings

Post by lulutoo »

This is a new one that started gradually and increased in frequency. When I open PI 12 (using Vista Home Premium 32 bit), it will have that window where you choose whether you want full edit or whatever, and all of the settings will be back to the defaults. It started happening at first about once every two weeks, but now it's at least every other day and sometimes twice a day. This is very frustrating because some of the defaults are just not workable, like only 20 undos, etc.

Do you think it would help to reinstall or upgrade to X3? Is this a PI problem or a Vista problem? I can't figure out why it would work fine at first and then just break by itself. I've had PI 12 on Vista for a couple of years, but the problem was very rare at first. Even when I started digital scrapbooking, it didn't increase immediately.

How are you starting PhotoImpact?
I have found that if you start Photoimpact first (without loading any images) that it has preserved your preferences - number of undo operations etc.
However if you right click an image and choose open with.. or edit with..
and PhotoImpact starts up then it will have reverted to the factory default settings.

Good point. I do both, so I will try to remember to try opening it without an image first from now on and see if that helps.

This is so funny. :o The very first time I tried to just open the program without a document, it had lost my settings. Maybe it works the opposite for me. I'll try that!
