In VS11 I moved some photos embedded in a vsp to another location. Naturally it came up with the relink message. I thought it would automatically relink all photos in that vsp but I found that I had to relink each one which was a pain even though they all existed in the same path. The same thing happened with video source files. I would have, like, 50 clips in a vsp from one original source avi but when I moved it and opened the vsp, i had to relink each clip - another real pain. I am planning to do a major restructure of my folder path locations with my new pc. I now have vs12 but Im fearful that if I move things I will have to go through the same pain. In this new scenario I plan to only change the drive letter not the path. For example, I have a vsp with 50 clips all from a file called f:\video\source.avi and I plan to move this to d:\video\source.avi. Is VS12 smart enough to recognise the first relink clip as being the same for the other 49?
thanks

VS should relink all files that are in the same folder. VS ProX2 has a nice feature called Smart Package. It is designed for moving projects from one PC to another. Smart Package grabs all files used in a project and puts them in one folder. Then all you need to do is move the folder.
You could first try a project to see if VS relinks all the files, if not then just Smart Package your projects. However since the only change you're making is to the drive letter, it should relink all the files. It doesn't do it on it's own. You will be prompted, and have to point it to where they have been moved to. However you should not have to point every file in a project.

Hi David
To add to Ron¡¦s comments.....
Ok were the original photos were in the same folder.
Then you moved the photos to another folder, or moved the folder --- is this correct?
Should re-link ok
Or the original images were in several folders, fragmented.
Then you moved them to one folder. Is this correct?
Trouble re-linking
The Avi to test Re-Link
f:\video\source.avi
Close VS
Rename the folder to f:\video2\source.avi
Open VS
Follow re-link process.
It should re-link all in one go.
If it doesn¡¦t --- do not save the project, close VS, rename to f:\video\source.avi.

And just to clarify -- you say these files are 'embedded' in the VSP... In point of fact, they are not. The .vsp file is nothing more than a small text file which tells VS what images, video clips etc are involved in the project, where they are stored on the computer, and what has been done to them by way of editing. Thus, moving the .vsp file, and even their associated image and video files, will inevitably require re-linking -- apart from the 'Smart Package' situation just mentioned.
