VS X2 Has different Quicktime Codec list to Quicktime itself

Post by craftycurate »

I am trying to export a movie from VS X2 Pro using Quicktime H264 codec.

However, the list of codecs available from the Quicktime dialog within VS X2 is different (and older, by the looks of it) from the codec list available within Quicktime itself.

Is this a known issue? If so, how can I get VSX2 to export in Quicktime H264 format?

Thanks
Richard

craftycurate,

So, if I understand you correctly, you own a licensed copy of Quicktime Pro that you can use to encode video? If so, then I believe I can help you get this set up properly so you can use the Quicktime H264 format.

Hi Ronald

Yes, I have a Quicktime Pro license, with v7.6.4 installed.

If you know how to use QT H264 within VS X2 Pro that woudl be very helpful!

Thanks

craftycurate,

Cool! I posted a tutorial on encoding in mpeg4 using XVID. If you'll follow along with that tutorial, you should be able to use your QuickTime Pro encoder. Essentially, you're going to use the Make Movie Templates Manager to create a new encoding template. Now since I don't have Quicktime Pro, I'm just unsure as to whether you will need to choose AVI for the file format (like I did) or choose .mp4, or .mov. You'll need to see where the QuickTime encoder is hiding. My tutorial is at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 742045e794 and included many screenshots.

I sincerely hope this helps, and if you have further questions, just ask!

Thanks, but this doesn't address the original issue.

I can easily create a Quicktime profile in VS, but it offers different QT codecs to those on offer in QT itself.

craftycurate,

Ca I ask what the specific "specs" are that you're looking for? In other words, what is QuickTime offering that VS doesn't apparently do?
