Hello everyone. I have a problem I'm wondering if anyone can solve. I have just purchased a new computer - HP dv8t Quad core i7 (820) with plenty of RAM (4GB) and a fast 7200 RPM 500GB HD. It's quite amazing, but I'm having an issue with capturing High-Def video from my sony camcorder. I am able to connect with the Firewire and capture the down-converted HDV->DV as DV or MPEG at 720x480, but when I try to capture at the native 1440x1080i HDV format without down-converting, no video shows up in the preview screen in VSX2, but it plays fine in the camcorder while "capturing", yet at the end of the capture I get the error message that the file is corrupt and will automatically be deleted.
I've been using this camcorder and VSX2 (and prior versions of VS) for several years and this is the first I've come across this.
Does anyone know if there is an update to a driver that maybe my W7 doesn't have? Is there a DX update I should install? I've only had this computer for a month, so it's basically brand new.
I appreciate anyone's help.

I have an older computer (P4 3.0 Ghz) with Win 7 RC on it, and X2 captures HDV fine from my Canon HV20 via Firewire.
All I can suggest doing is to Google for a small capture program which I use in preference to X2, simply because it splits the incoming HDV by scene. X2 can only split-by-scene once the whole thing has been captured. The program is called HDVSplit.
If that too does not work, then I would be looking at your hardware -- first your Firewire cable and card (make sure the latter is seated properly -- though since you can capture DV, that doesn't sound as though it is the problem...)
Otherwise, I would make sure the camera is actually set internally to download HDV. Has the change in menu setting, for instance, "taken" and become effective, or has it reverted to DV?
