Hi
When overlapping clips in the overlay track a transition is automatically inserted.
How do I turn this option off.
I have looked through Preferences, search the forum but no luck.....

If you are overlapping clips, obviously some sort of transition must be inserted. Which one is determined by the Transition Effect setting (Preferences>Edit tab>Transition Effect).
Even though you may have unchecked the box labeled Automatically Add Transition Effect (which affects only the main track), whatever you have selected as the Default Transition Effect will, in fact, be the default transition for the overlay tracks.
As you often say, "clear as mud"!

Hi Jeff
Using older versions of VS it was not possible to drag a clip over another in the overlay track.
Now i find with X2 that i can do this. What i wanted to know is can we disable this option so that the clip will 'snap-to' the ends of an adjacent clip not overlap it.
Or do i just have to be careful when dragging clips.

For years we've wanted transitions in the overlay tracks and now you want to turn them off?!
AFAIK, you cannot turn it off.

Hi Jeff
Just want my cake and eat it. Well no I want the choice........
Well I was positioning some short audio clips, sound effects, and I found they would easily overlap.
Dragging from right to left and they would ¡¥snap to¡¦, but dragging left to right and it is a little hit and miss as to whether the clips butt up or overlap by a frame or more.
Maybe a little more care needed, but it does take longer to edit.
