Smart Proxy Files Disappeared

I'm working on a project from files off an external drive, and I've created Smart Proxy files for all of them. The external drive got disconnect accidentally, and when I restarted Corel VideoStudio, the proxy files no longer exist in the application.

Any ideas?

Have you looked in the Working Directory designated in Preferences?

However, I suspect that since Proxy files are really only temporary standard definition files created to mimic an original high definition ones, if the link with the latter is broken, then the program may 'think' the proxies are no longer needed and they are deleted...

The files are in the working directory, but are no longer linked. I wonder if there's a way to make the smart proxy files permanent?
