Create Disc-more thumbnails

In VS11+ how and at what stage do you add more chapter thumbnails
to the menu you are using.I will have only one main menu page.

Think I know what road you may be thinking of going down but to clarify this is the situation I was asking about .For instance Gallery-thumbnail menus-select 05_SceB18(which has 3 thumnails on it) if I wanted 1 or 2 more thumbs on that can/how is that done

You need to go to the Edit tab, then click on the Customize link toward the bottom. In the Customize dialog, at the bottom, click on the Drop-down menu and select Layout.

thanks fo rthe lightning reply.
I went edit-customise-selected layout from the drop down arrow-selected the last icon with 4 in it.Four showed in the Cus. menu box-ok but then only 3 showed in the ULVS window

Did you have more than 3 titles? If you had 4, it should have presented you with 4 thumbnails. You need to have the same number or more titles for the layout you select.

Hi Ken

Go back to the first window, the one that shows the Add Media option.

What do you see in the timeline, how many clips? (I assume one)

Below the Add Media is Add/Edit Chapters
Select this option.
A new window opens, what do you see in the timeline, how many clips.
There has to be one for the first frame, if you see 3 then you have created 2 chapter points.

So how many do you actually see?

And... how many chapters do you have? if you select a menu with 4 thumbnail place holders but you only have 3 items to show, the redundant 4th item remains hidden from view.

What you need to create a DVD Menu is
1. A background - you can alter the backgrounds in the preset menus with your own which can be a static image or a looping video.
2. Music - you can replace this with your own.
3. One or more thumbnails - on the EDIT tab you can select an alternative number of thumbnails to the one offered by default.
4. You can alter the style of the frames around the thumbnails from the EDIT tab.
5. You can alter the text, font, font size, font color.

In fact you can alter just about anything!

thanks for all the replies men,I think Ron has hit the target when he said
"You need to have the same number or more titles for the layout you select." I did not have enough titles at the time to match the selected
layout, so that was the problem....................Ken

The converse is also useful: if you have more chapters than you have thumbnail blanks on the menu template, then either choose a template with more thumbnails or put up with the fact that you will have several pages of chapter menus to accommodate all your chapter points...
