avi files crash

Post by leszektrojanowski »

Hi there,
Probably this has been brought up before, but I could not find anything on this issue I am experiencing.

Every time I upload an avi file to the library it either crashes the programme and shuts it down or is extremely slow when being edited.
I downloaded the latest k-lite codec pack and it is still the same.
All my mpg / mpeg files seem ok.

It reads in the file properties: (this file come from my camera)
Compression: ffdshow Video Decoder
Attributes: 24 bits, 800 x 592
Total frames: 642 frame(s)

Could you please tell me how to fix this problem?

Thanks

Thanks, but that doesn't solve my problem anyway. I can uninstall the codec pack and then the video doesn't work at all in corel.
What codecs are good to work on avi/mpg videos in corel video studio?

Although you don't say which program showed you those properties, obviously the codec you need -- and which apparently is not on your computer -- is the ffdshow codec. It is relatively common, though I don't have it on mine either... But that is a matter of personal choice... A Google search will find a source, or your K-Lite codec pack may have it. But when you open the installer for that pack, look just for the ffdshow codec, and do not install the whole lot.

Camera or Camcorder?
Cameras are meant for taking Photographs
Camcorders are meant for taking videos
Mobile phones are meant for talking to people.

Whilst most can now do the job of one of the others you must remember the primary function of the device as listed above.

If you have taken a video with your camera or mobile phone, often you need to convert it to something that VideoStudio is happy to work with such as MPEG2. A good and FREE converter is Super
