Error Message "Cannot start the capture graph", VS

Post by forrge »

When I try to capture video from a VCR, I get the error message "Cannot start the capture graph".
The video does display properly in the preview window.
The message appears immediately when the Capture buttom is selected.
Using VS 11Plus, Dell Dim 4400 PC, 1.7GHZ, 1G Mem.
Have been able to capture video in the past without this problem.

Hi
There have been problems with VS11 and capture.
Do a search on the forum/Video studio - Search for all terms for (Cannot and start and capture and graph and VS11) this returned 22 for me.

I am connecting using composite cables. I was using VS 11 Plus to capture video earlier, I know with my Canon DV camcorder using firewire, and I pretty sure using my analog VCR.
This seems to be a common problems with VS. I tried using Roxio 7.5 to capture video and that worked without any problems.

Corel changed the capture process a few versions back and now VS has problems capturing analog. Corel has been made aware of the problem from the beginning but has not fully addressed it.

If you are able to capture using Roxio then, by all means, continue to do so. You can then import the files into VS for editing. Windows Movie Maker is another alternative.
