Video Studio Setup.

Post by Ted. »

Hi, All,

Video Studio always creates a folder named: Corel VideoStudio in "My Documents" even though I've set all the folder Preferences to use my D: partition. Can this be changed.

First, do you mean "always" by "always"? I mean -- do you remove the offending folder and next time you come back, it establishes it again each and every time? Or do you mean each time you install a new version of VS it creates that folder?

Second, do you realise that it is not just the Editing module that creates that working folder in the [My] Documents folder? The burning module also does, so you need to change that one too to the D: partition. You will find it in the first of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen, under Preferences > General, last line...

Hi, Ken,

Yes, even after I've deleted the folder it always returns. It did it in version 9 and it's the same in version 12.

I haven't checked on the burning modules prefs, as yet, but thanks for the tip.

But does anything get put there? I mean, I have those folders, which I have never bothered removing since I know my working folders are elsewhere. I guess their (ampty) presence does not offend my sense of well-being. Or do yours behave substantively in a way which offends your own sense of, at least, what is proper?

Hi, Ken,

No they are always empty so I'll ignore them from now on. Many thanks for your help.

You need to alter a few things in your Microsoft Windows Installation - bit iffy if you don't know what you are doing.

Firstly you can change the location of various "Special folders"
Secondly you can change the location of "My Documents"
Thirdly you can change the location where Windows places its Temporary files.

I could explain it all but am a bit reluctant to do so because you could end up completely messing your computer up and then have to re-install Windows.
