Easy Question

I am trying to use the EXTRACT object in PhotoImact. I go through all the steps but after step 4 and returning to the main page (has ants around my selection), I want to remove my selection without opening a new picture. Can anyone help/

Not quite sure what you want to "clear" if you mean the "ants" then just select a different object (layer). when you extracted the object it became a new layer.
