I have been a PhotoImpact user for many years and realize that PI is like orphan without a home.
It is basically dead as far as Corel is concerned.
Therefore, I was looking to find another product in the same range and was looking at the new Paint Shop Pro.
Especially since the cost of it has tumbled to about $40.00.
Before taking hours to evaluate it, I want to make 100% sure about one feature or really the lack of it.
It appears that PS Pro is "media" and "paper" based, as opposed to wanting to have the final output on a web site.
Is this true ?
From what I have read, it appears that there are not features to create photo albums/slide shows, photo displays (maybe with music as well), for the web.
I am NOT referring to one of the commercial, advertisement based Internet services, like Flicker or Kodak, etc, but the display of photos and graphic images on my own or anyone's private web site.
Am, what I am say true ??
Thanks,
Jon Temple

You're correct that PSP is more for the print media than internet. I might add that slide-shows are more of a video aspect. Corel also has DVD MovieFactory and VideoStudio, both are capable of producing slide-shows far better than PSP or PI.
Currently VS Pro is on sale until the 23rd of this month, for $40 (full version) and $30 (upgrade). I mention this because it is very common to not rely on just program to do everything. Use a photo editing application to manipulate your photos, and NLE (Non-liner Editor) to produce your slide-shows. These slide-shows can then be ported for the web. In fact with VS Pro you can export your video (slide-shows) to FLV format, which is better suited for band-width on web sites.
I've had both PSP and PI for several years, as well as some NLEs. So far I think I've only used PI once to produce a slide-show and it didn't impress me enough to continue using it for that.
Then there's yet another alternative, and that is look for a program that is designed to specifically produce slide-shows. There's a few good ones available for free, or there not that expensive.
I don't know if you use PI or intend to use PSP for creating your web pages, but IMHO both are not well suited for that. While PI can do that, it has it's limitations, where web page creation programs are meant to be used.

Yeah Paint Shop Pro doesn't really have anything special for the web.
The only functions built into Paint Shop Pro for the web are:
1) Creating an Image Map
2) Slicing an image (uses tables instead of DIV tags)
3) And creating image rollovers for buttons and such.
Though the help files do give you suggestions for preparing your images for the web.
For slide-shows I'd take vidoman's suggestions.
