Check out the line that I highlighted in yellow in this image:
HUH?
What genius at Corel came up with that one?
Advertising Genius: "I've got an idea!! Let's insult the intelligence of every PI user by telling them to upgrade to an inferior piece of software!!"
Advertising Genius's Boss: "What an Awesome Idea!! Hey, they believed us when we implied that we wouldn't bury everything but Ulead's video software, they'll believe anything!!"
I have family in Canada, I hope it's not something in the air.
Proof they've lost their minds at Corel

They are no longer into programs and customer satisfaction, but into brands and shareholder income.
I wonder if this Digital Studio (the weakest media suite feature-wise I know btw) will follow the footsteps of Snapfire aka MediaOne fiasco.

Well, there's nothing wrong with trying to keep the shareholders happy. Let's look at what Corel did with Ulead: Corel bought the entire product line just so they could have access to a couple video programs. Spending a huge amount of cash, and then only using 5% of what you bought, isn't going to make any shareholder happy.
This is the same type of out-of-touch thinking that's lead to dozens of bad investments on their part. Anyone remember when they dumped all their cash into Corel Linux, so they could wipe Microsoft off the map? Yeah, that plan went really well...
They need some new blood in there.

It's not blood they need over at Corel. It's brains. Being a Canadian, I'm almost ashamed to admit Corel is Canadian, too.
Corel has alienated Ulead's long-time users. The members at the PIRC forum and PhotoImpact International aren't feeling very happy about Corel dumping their favorite imaging software. The word "betrayed" springs to mind.
If I lived in Ottawa and owned a dog, I'd make sure I took him for a walk by Corel every day...
