Is there a way to silence audio segments in VSPX2? I found the tutorial "Understanding and Using Audio Filters" but it does not explain how to do this in VS.
I also tried splitting the video and audio. Then do the edit in Audacity. But when I import the modified audio track back into my project the timing between the video and audio are off.
Could this have been the problem in importing back to VS? It imported the file back as a wav but VS looks like handles mpg?
Thanks
Mike

If you're wanting to just silence (mute) audio on segments of a video clip, try cutting the clip, and then press the mute icon for the cut section. Don't apply any transitions between them, leave them has hard-cuts.
VS does handle WAV files better than MPEG.
If you're going to edit the audio outside of VS, it is best done before any other editing is done to the video. It is much easier to keep things in sync. I'll point out that some video formats, such as MPEG, AVCHD, OOS (out of sync) will be inherent when trying this.

Re: Editing Audio
When you edit in an external audio editor such as Audacity, Wavelab, wavepad - you have to be very careful not to alter the overall duration of the audio. For example: If you export a sound file that is 1 minute 33.5 seconds long, the one you later import to VideoStudio must also be 1 minute 33.5 seconds long.rytel wrote:Is there a way to silence audio segments in VSPX2? mute sections of a clip
referring to a section of the clip :-
With the clip selected in the timeline, if the section is at the end or the start, move the red triangular slider to where the start of the point you want to mute (or the end of the section) and click the scissor icon. The clip is now split into 2 and you can mute the part you want to
. If the section to mute is in the middle-click the scissors
at the start and end points and the clip will be split into 3.Then lmute the
section you want, you can cut as often as you want for further muting.
