split by scene don't work

Hi all when I load a clip and click on clip I can't split by scene cause that is grayed out.
What am i doing wrong???
Using xp pro and sp12.
the video file seems to be ok it loads edits and saves ok, wmv file..

You're doing nothing wrong. WMV is one of the formats that VS does not allow splitting by scene.

In a nutshell split by scene detects when you turned your CAMCORDER on or off whilst filming. It works with DV (Digital Video) but not with WMV.

I converted to avi and it worked ok
