HDV export from VS 10+

Post by weaver »

Hi

any idea how can I export the HDV files back to HDV tape. My camera has a record option (over I-link) but the VS does not recognizes this option on the camera. (No driver in the export menu)

Thank you for any idea.

Well I was going to say that VS10+ certainly can export HDV back to your HDV as I have used it almost exclusively for this over the past couple of years. (I also have VS11.5+ and X2 but I find that VS10+ did a better job.)

However, the most curious thing has just happened. I have not used VS10+ for several months since I have not needed to export HDV to my Canon HV-20 in that time. Last time I used it, it worked perfectly as always. However, this time when I opened VS10+, the option was not even there (which is 'HDV Recording' which normally appears on the Share screen below 'DV Recording'.

I uninstalled it, and reinstalled everything, including the various patches. These included a specific one brought out to get VS10+ to see Canon HDV cameras. However, nothing works. VS10+ can now neither "see" the camera for either capture purposes or for re-export.

I can only surmise that some Vista update in past few months has overwritten something. Yet curiously enough, VS11.5+, which is installed in the same Ulead Systems folder, has no problem seeing the camera and being willing to export back to it.

Note that you need to have your HDV project opened in the timeline before HDV Recording becomes active on the screen (but it should be there, grayed out -- which it no longer is in my version! ) VS has to process the project and produce a transport stream (.ts) version of the project in HDV format because the camera can only see and record the transport stream HDV format...

Thanks Ken

I will check again. I remember something, that there was a special option to record into HDV device what I did not see yesterday.

HDV export from VS 10+

Meanwhile I found the reason - I forget to reinstall the SP1 for the VS10+. This SP includes the HDV export.

Well, I never found what broke my VS10 export function, but I did a full reinstall, including the service packs, and got it back too. So glad it is working for you too!!
