MediaStudio is geared more to the professional, with many advanced functions that do not appear in the consumer-geared VideoStudio.

The biggest con against MediaStudio is the fact that it is no longer produced, updated or supported by Corel.

Please click here --> Image it all depends upon your system specifications.

I tend to stick to XP despite the fact I also have Vista and I also have the RC Version of Windows 7.

MediaStudio Pro does not work on Vista or Windows 7 - though we have found work rounds
Microsoft Vista / Windows 7 - Work Rounds etc. for older programs

If you have XP and are happy to stick with it, then you can do no better than get hold of MediaStudio Pro 8 which even today is by far more powerful than the current version of VideoStudio. However if you have Vista or Windows 7 then you will be better off with VideoStudio.

Right!!!!!

The web site says:
Please note that this product is not compatible with Windows Vista.
Check the system requirements to determine if this software is compatible with your computer and operating system. Corel is not planning any future updates to this product.
In some ways Video Studio is catching-up or maybe even more advanced than Media Studio, and you get a ton of features for the price. But, it is still a "consumer" program.

If you want to consider more professional or "prosumer" software, take a look at the Wikipedia List of video editing software. And, before you purchase any video editing (and/or DVD authoring) software download the trial version!
