I had back up all my video and audio files. In xp they were all in My documents, seems windows 7 have put the folder somewhere else.
I have relinking and smart searching enabled but for some reason it doens't find them where they are.
Is there a place in VS12 that I can place them, that smart searching would find them? I placed the audio in the samples and audio, and it seemed to work, but videos seems like I might have to do each individually?

Hi Bruce
I do not use X2 (VS 12) so the re-linking may have improved.
When you re-link you browse the pc to find the required file. (afaik it does not search the pc for you)
Re-link will then link all files within that particular folder or folder structure, maybe that¡¦s the smart part?
Files located in other folders may require another re-link.
If you find that the re-link only does individual files within a particular folder, Save the project then re-open the project, (file ¡V open project) this will cause another re-link request, Browse the pc, all files within that folder should now re-link.
When you use VS it is best to create a working folder to hold all your files associated with that project.
Create a new folder for each project.
VS 12 has a Smart Package option that can do this for you, I think?

Vista and Windows 7 no longer use the XP locations
C:\Documents and Settings\etc......
Instead it places those files at
C:\Users\[Your User name]\AppData\Roaming\etc.....
You can in fact place your video and audio files and anything else - photographs etc. anywhere you like on your hard drive(s).
Smart Package is a means of grabbing hold of ALL your video, audio, image and any other files and placing them together in one folder, then creating a new VSP (VideoStudio Project file) holding the new location for those items.
You can then transfer the entire folder to another computer and open that new VSP file with VideoStudio. If you maintained the same complete path structure then there is no need for the files to re-link. If you put them somewhere else then you point to one file in that new folder and VideoStudio automatically re-links the rest.
