lighten portion of clip

Post by ggg »

Can I lighten just a portion of a clip? I thought that I saw something about this but cannot now find the thread.

When you say a portion of a clip, are you talking about an area on the clip (the top but not the bottom), or are you talking about time (lighten the first 15 seconds but not the last 15 seconds)?

Never-the-less, when you apply your filter you use the key frames to adjust the intensity, area, time, etc.

Lighten clip

Post by Ken Veal »

If you are referring to a section of the clip :-
With the clip selected in the timeline, if the section is at the end or the start, move the red triangular slider to where the start of the point you want to lighten it(or the end of the section) and click the scissor icon. The clip is now split into 2 and you can lighten it by clicking "Color Correction""
then" Brightness" and move the slider.
If the section to lighten is in the middle-click the scissors
at the start and end points and the clip will be split into 3.Then lighten the
section you want............................Ken

thank you

The tip of scissoring the section and then color correcting that section was exactly what I needed. Thank you for all your help.
