Reinstallation of all old versions

Post by ramdaspillai »

My PC had a fatal crash and I had to change my operating system hard disk.

Fortunately, I have installation of CD of some of the programs. I wish to reinstall all Ulead versions (Version 9.0, 10.0, 11.5 and Pro X2) as I want to transfer the transitions and extras to be copied to the latest version.

Can someone be kind enough to advise me how to go about.

Should I install version 9.0 1st and followed by other upgrade versions or should I i1st install the latest version and then go backwards to install other versions.

Thanks

Pillai

Hi

Start with the oldest, VS 9 and work your way through.

I would advise the contrary. Start with X2. It does not need to actually see an older version installed on your computer: it will only ask for the serial number of an earlier version, and then it will install the whole program. Moreover, it will be installed in a Corel folder, not a Ulead Systems folder, as all previous versions were...

Trevor -- you are of course correct.  I confess I read the OP's last message as implying he was only reinstalling the earlier versions because the subsequent ones were updates, and he was trying to ensure that he managed to get to a working version of X2 (with each new version update checking to see that a previous version was already installed)...  Not that he actually wanted all these older versions for their own sake...

He wants to get all the content, transitions etc. from the earlier versions
To do so he would need to start from the earliest first (VS9) and work his way up.

If he only wanted to install "the latest version" then he would only need to install VS X2 and when asked supply the serial number of VS11.

Possibly a faulty disk or disk drive or a bit of dirt.
Try copying the entire disk to a hard drive folder and installing from there.

error installation

Post by ramdaspillai »

Dear Mr. Steve,

I copied the program to my hard disk and run. it doesn't work. after i click the set up and the installation shield opens and after it reads into a quarter of the progress bar the error message appears.

I have XP Prof Service Pack 2 installated and kaspersky internet security 2010 anti-virus running. I disabled the anti-virus and tried, still no success.

what could be the problem?

regards,

Pillai

Hi Pillai

Seems strange that you are getting errors from a clean C/Drive.
To be honest I haven¡¦t got a clue as to the error codes.....
I assume you have replaced the drive and re-installed the operating system from scratch, no backups,
that there is no Ulead/Corel products installed on your pc.
If there are remnants of Video Studio then do a Clean Install.

Clutching at straws again, there was a problem a long time ago with MSI.dll ,Version 3.1
View this post:-
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 4272#44272

Basically use Msi.dll , Version 2

But I don¡¦t know if this would affect the installation of the program

error installation

Post by ramdaspillai »

Dear Steve,

I understand the error is probably due to a previous installation as the message reads:

an error (--5003 : 0x8004ace8) has occurred while running the set up.

Please make sure you have finished any previous set up and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Ulead Systems"

Can you give the link to install and clean re-install procedure for X2 with instalshield folder Nos.

Regards
