ULead VideoStudio 9 on Windows 7
I am about to get a new PC with Windows 7 installed. I use VideoStudio 9 for editing home videos and would rather not upgrade. Does anyone know if VideoStudio 9 will work on Windows 7?

Welcome to the forums,
It might work, as there have been some older programs that seem to work. I don't know if there is anyone that still has VS9 installed, let alone on a Win7 machine. I've never attempted to install VS9 on Vista, since it is such an old program.
Would VS9 not working with Win7, prevent you from upgrading your PC or OS?

Ok, then when you get your new Win7 PC, you certainly could try to install and run VS9. If it works then you're good to go, and you might let us here on the forum know..
I have an older desktop running XP. I recently made it a dedicated video editing machine. No internet, anti-virus and all the other bloat that goes with that. What pushed me to finally do this, is that it was running so slow, that I had to do something. I reformatted the HD, and installed just the programs needed for video editing and photography. This old XP desktop, now actually boots and loads programs faster than my laptop which is a dual core.
So what I'm suggesting is that if VS doesn't run on your new PC, you could try reformatting your old one, and put just a couple of programs on it, one being VS9 to do your editing..

Re: ULead VideoStudio 9 on Windows 7
You still didn't answer my earlier post. My suggestion is that you dedicate your new Windows 7 machine to general day to day use of a computer, browsing the internet, using Microsoft Office, keeping your music albums etc.
Then wiping your old computer clean, re-installing XP and dedicating it to Video Editing. No Internet, no anti-virus - no games - just video editing.

Hey Accolades I found a computer a bit bigger than yours!

As eluded to by Ken, Microsoft has Virtual PC that runs Virtual XP Mode in Windows 7. As far as I can determine it's free if the Windows 7 version is listed in the requirements.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Virtual XP Mode because I have several software packages that won't install on Win 7. So far the software I've installed in the XP Mode runs fine and integrates into Win 7.
Here is a link to download Virtual PC and XP Mode software. Ensure you run the tool to see if your computer hardware can run XP Mode. Older computers may not be able to run in the Microsoft virtual mode.

I've also installed Virtual PC and XP Mode on Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and have installed devices and software that won't run on Win7.
