SWF files in VS

Post by mitchell65 »

I only have VS x2 and this is the only version I have used. With some earlier versions it does not seem as if swf files are recognised. Could someone with VS 10 and or VS11 please look and see if under Video tag if you click the down arrow head do you see "Decoration" and if so when you click on that do you see "Flash Animation"?
I ask this as I often produce a small flash animation that others may like to use. No point in using swf it can't be openedd in all versions of VS. Will need to save as an AVI but that makes a bigger file!

Yes both VS10 and 11 accept SWF files.

Thanks Ron. If you get a minute to spare could you download this swf and see if you can import it to VS10 please. Others have had the "Unknown format" message!

Hi John

That file seems ok to me using VS 10

Loads to the Video library
Flash Animation library

But not the ¡¥Decoration¡¦

Works well in the overlay track, but there is a slight green line,
very thin showing at the bottom of the curtain,
probably not noticeable when the main track has content.

and can you do one that starts at the bottom.
I know I¡¦m being picky........suppose I can stretch it.....
But nice one

Hi Trevor
probably not noticeable when the main track has content.
It does disappear when the main track has content, in fact taht green line becomes transparant but I produced this to fit with all formats so a bit of stretching here and there may well be necessary as I said here:If you then rt click it in the preview window and choose "Fit to screen" you may find a gap at the bottom. If so just drag the clip up a bit then use a yellow handle to drag the bottom down a touch then move the whole clip down until you cover the screen. I made the backing a shocking green, yours should be transparent straight away but if not use the Chroma Key to fix that.

As Trevor stated it works fine, loads into the Video and Flash animation libraries. I'll just add that goes for VS10, 11, and 12..

Thanks Ron. I'll stick to producing these in their native swf format, nice small files.
