curtain rising
Firstly, appologies for not replying to the last couple of questions - receiving helpful advice from the usual suspects. Was in the middle of a house move, however thanks for taking the time as per the norm to reply.
Another question to ponder.
All im wanting is, a curtain rising effect during my little video production. Using VS10+. The usual red theatre curtain rising effect which ideally will then lead to a white screen flickering into life some past clips i have.
I know theres a curtain effect - of sorts - in vs10 - think is kindof moves away sideways...however ideally looking for the real mccoy so to speak...nice proper curtain rising.
Anyone out there know if i can get that and how to incorporate into my video.
thanks for any replies.

The opening sideways option isn't too difficult
Super 8 Demo
To have a rising curtain you would have to try one of the following:
a. Use a 3D program like Cool3D / Cool 3D Production Studio / Bluff Titler
or
b. Get a video of a curtain rising and place it on an overlay track. As the curtain rises you would have to remove that videos background - chroma key if possible - if not then try A Video Sequence File

Suggest save to your desktop and use your favoured player. If it is I would happily email you my small swf file of the curtain.

Hi Trevor
The curtain is a free jpeg from Google images that I found yesterday (wanted one with a gold tassle at the bottom but beggars can't be choosers). The rest of the file I created in Flash. It was a straightforward motion tween. So I can freely give this to anyone who wants it. As you say right click it and choose "Save Target As".

EDIT
This is what I sent to lakewad others may find it useful!
Just save it to your video folder, then import it into your library. Then drag and drop it to the overlay track. If you then rt click it in the preview window and choose "Fit to screen" you may find a gap at the bottom. If so just drag the clip up a bit then use a yellow handle to drag the bottom down a touch then move the whole clip down until you cover the screen. I made the backing a shocking green, yours should be transparent straight away but if not use the Chroma Key to fix that. Then it should work.

I use VS x2 and that opens swf files OK. What versions are you using , perhaps they do not support swf but swf have been about for years so this would surprise me. Anyway i will save the swf as an avi if I can and put it back on the site to dow nload.

This should download OK and work on all versions of VS (I hope)

Tis a pleasure Gary. Interested to see the finished video as and when.
P.S. If you or anyone else would be interested in putting a video on the web without using You Tube or similar let me know here and I will explain how I do it. If you have a broadband package the chances are you have some free webspace. Might as well make use of it.
