Problem video and audio not in sync on burned DVD

Post by hem51 »

I have made a movie which I am very pleased with. It is 32 minutes long. I have tried to create a disc by using the DVD option within the "Share" function of Video Studio by opening the project and burning straight from the Video Studio file. This has resulted in good video quality on the disc but the audio track "slips" as the disc progresses so that by the end it is well out of sync with the movie. I have tried this three times now with the same result.

I have also made a MPEG 2 file and saved this to the hard disc then opened a new project, gone straight to Create Disc in "Share" and dropped the MPEG in to burn. THis goes through the rendering process and all seems to be going well until right at the end when I get the message "File not found 533-2147216501:0" and the disc is left blank.

I have tried this exercise twice with no success.

I have played back the MPEG movie on my computer and the video and audio are synced perfectly - it is only in the burning process that it "slips"

Can anyone please help?

Usually, this means that there's something "wrong" with the files you're feeding into Video Studio. (Maybe some slight corruption, or just something that Video Studio doesn't "like".)

What format are your original videos? The more compressed formats (MPEG-4, etc.) tend to cause the most trouble. MPEG-2 can sometimes be trouble. DV/AVI (13BG per hour) seems to be the most trouble-free.

You might try saving your project as DV/AVI, and if that file stays in-sync, try using that to make the DVD.

Or if you didn't do too much editing, you can try converting all of your files to DV/AVI as a first step and then start-over with those files.
I have also made a MPEG 2 file and saved this to the hard disc then opened a new project... I get the message "File not found... I have played back the MPEG movie on my computer and the video and audio are synced perfectly - it is only in the burning process that it "slips"
Even though that file plays OK, there still may be some slight corruption in it. (Video Studio seems to be finicky, and a file that plays-back perfectly can cause weird problems in Video Studio.)

Thank you so much for your reply.

The original files are MPEG (I don't know how to find out what type of MPEG as the Porperties tab just indicates "MPEG file". All the original movies were taken on a Sony Handcam.

I have looked at saving as DV/AVI but under Share / Create Movie the option to dreate a DV file simply gives the option PAL DV (4:3) or PAL DV (16:9) Are these avi files? If I make a DV file and burn it to disc as a dvd successfully will the final movie play ok on the TV through a DVD player?

I look forward to0 hearing from you.

Hi

There are several ways of reading the video properties.
From Video Studio..........
First go to File Preferences, tick the option for ¡¥Show Messages when inserting....................

Now start a new project. (it has to be a new project)
Add one of the original videos to the timeline.
You should get an info window asking you to match the project properties.
Select Details,
Using your mouse and keyboard, copy and paste the details of the right hand panel to the forum. (video properties)

If you do not get the info window:-
Right click the clip in the timeline and select properties.
Post the details to the forum.

Ok
If your original files are Mpeg 2 then you are best keeping those properties for your conversion.
Share Create Video File using Same As first Video should do this.
Once you have created the Mpeg 2 file , you should be able to play on the pc to check audio sync.........

But we really need to know those properties.

Thank you so much for your help.

I havemade an avi. file and burned it to disc successfully. I now have a video which is completely in sync with the audio and am very pleased with the result.

Cheers,
