Demultiplexing

Hello Everyone:

Exactly how is demultiplexing done? I ask because I performed demultiplexing on a converted MPEG2 video file with resulting file only processing the video stream and left out the audio track completely.

I am using ReStream to change a converted MPEG2 file to cinema scope aspect ratio. Normally, I wouldn¡¦t have to perform this step except that the converted file needs to be ¡§stretch¡¨ just a tad more. The screen is somewhat not to 16:9 ratio standard.

ReStream displayed an error message that this file must to be demultiplexed first, which I have done (with another program).

Now, there is no sound.

I noticed that during the demultiplexing process it can only perform video OR audio processing. I have the file with the correct aspect ratio, but no sound.

Is there a way to get audio back into the process file?

take the original file and demultiplex to just audio and then bring the two back together again and make your new file.

Or, use another app to do the demultiplexing that retains both audio and video but in two files, that again you bring back together to make your finished version.

Hello Graham:

I am new to demultiplexing (actually, having to perform it once, I hate the process). But my understanding is that there may be no programs that perform demultiplexing keeping both video and audio streams (of course, I could be wrong).

I will keep searching.
