I occasionally make DVDs for friends who tell me they won't play on their players. Since I have mutilple burners, I usually try to make new copies in a different way and usually succeed. But it is a bother.
I was doing some transfers on one of those commercial DVD/VCR units and was reminded of the finalization process that's required in order to provide compatibility for other DVD players and it occurred to me that perhaps I'm missing something in my use of VideoStudeo. How does VS perform finalization to ensure better compatibility with playback units??

Finalization is only required as a separate step on DVDs made in stand-alone DVD recorders or DVD cameras, where you might stop recording and add another program later (DVD-VR format). A DVD that you author & burn with Video Studio should be ready to go.
VideoHelp.com has a player/format compatibility list.... I think most new players can "play anything".
Some DVD players have trouble with all "burned" discs. Some can play DVD-R, but not DVD+R or vice-versa. Some have trouble with burned dual-layer discs, etc.I occasionally make DVDs for friends who tell me they won't play on their players.
