Opening Menu

Post by DavidP »

I've searched for a few days on this will no success, so I apologise if it's been answered before.

I create my video OK, including chapters etc. I wish for the DVD to start with the main menu open so the viewer can select either to play from beginning or to select a scene.

When I preview it, this happens, so I commence burning the DVD. When I play it on my home DVD (LG model), it simply commences playing the DVD and I have to select the DVD' "menu" option to call up my menu. Is this normal behaviour, have I missed a setting during the burn process, or is it DVD player specific behaviour?

Also, I did read a post regarding scene selection that it is not possible in VS9 to return to the menu after a scene has been played, rather it then continues to the end of the movie. Is this the case?

Thanks for any help. :D

I've got the same problem with one of my standalone DVD players at home, a Toshiba TV/VCR/DVD combination that's in my office. It's the only one that automatically plays the first video on the disk, bypassing the menu, and I haven't found a way to stop that.

The same disks play fine in my other standalone DVD players, a Panasonic TV/VCR/DVD combination in my bedroom, as well as Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, and WinDVD.

Thanks for your reply. Seems like it's some player-specific thing, I was concerned that I had missed some obscure VS9 menu item that would have corrected it.

Thanks

I forgot to answer the last question in your post: yes, you do have a choice as to what should happen when a video has stopped playing. Access the Options menu by clicking on the gear icon, and there you can choose between "Return to Menu" and "Continue Playing".

Hi, thanks. I've had "Return to Menu" checked with no success. I'll look at it further
