I assume he wants to know how to do this with Video Studio.
1. When you have your Nano connected to the computer, it is just another drive. Using windows file explorer on that drive, switch to the DCIM directory, and then switch to the 000APPLE directory. Your videos will be there with the MP4 file extensions. You can move them anywhere on your computer you want, and then import them into Video Studio.
2. In Video Studio editor on the EDIT tab, right click in the video section and select import video. In the file browser that displays, choose the drive and directory for the nano. Example on my: H:\DCIM\000APPLE
Then choose the mp4 file you want.
For the second part of your question I would go to:

You "Import" the DVD (capture) into Video Studio, and then save (share) in an iPod compatible format.I also want to upload a home movie from a DVD to my PC and put it on my IPOD.
Or, the #1 program for copying DVDs to iPod is Handbrake (FREE!!!!).
Note that commercial DVDs are copy protected, and we don't discuss how to "crack" copy protection here.
