Split Audio for one clip
Tried spliiting aduio by right clicking clip in t/line, the reusulting file was full of glitches and missed parts.Deleted that file and selected clip in t/linewent share-create sound file-named and saved it and it rendered to the audio library.But.........it rendered the whole of the project's audio- is there a way to render just the clip ..................Ken

Hi Ken
If you just want to split a seperate audio file why not select the file, drag the time curser to the point where you want to split and use the scissors?
EDIT
Just had a thought, I am presuming that you first split the audio from the clip so that it was a stand alone file in the Music Track

There are 2 ways you can do it.
First, I am assuming the clip is in your library. Simply start a new project and put that one clip on the timeline. Share>Create Sound File.
The second option is, with your entire project in the timeline, in Project mode set the mark-in point at the beginning of the clip and the mark-out point at the end (you will get the dreaded red line above the clip). Go to Share>Create Sound File. When the box opens click on Options and click on Preview Range. Only the sound from the Preview Range (red line) will be created.

Never thought of that one.
Easier than my Create Sound File option.

Re: creating sound file
It should be...all you are doing by splitting the audio is making a copy of the Audio track, the original Audio is still with the video but is muted...I'm 90% certain this is what happens.Kenneth Veal wrote:But...If I dont create a sound file the result is not usable ...............Ken
By all means create an Audio file if your original source is not a .wav file and you want to work in that format to avoid potential syncing problems.

Split Audio
Yes, that is what happens, the original audio is there but muted. The file in which the audio has been split was something I recorded with my camcorder - so is this why the split audio will only play properly via
creating a sound file-because it was not wav?

Just to confirm, I took two different video clips (1 was a DV-AVI clip with DV audio, the other an MPEG-2 clip with MPEG audio) and put them on the timeline. I split the audio for both, then drug each of the audio clips to the audio library, where they both played as audio clips.
Kenneth, if this does not work for you on this particular clip it could be corrupt in some way. Can you try this procedure with another clip just to see if it works?

Split audio
I right clicked on another clip, split audio, dragged clip to the library and it played OK,so perhaps it was a pproblem with the original clip.

There's always two ways etc etc.
Here's my solution. Open the clip. Go to Audio View and use the rubber band to reduce the volumn to the lowest level (vitually muting it ) of the unwanted part of the audio. No need to split the audio at all. Also has the anvantage that if you need to adjust it is so easy to do so later without any sync problems.

split audio
I wanted to split the audio from the clip so that all the audio could be used in another part of the project as well as keeping the original clip(edited) with its edited audio intact to play elsewhere in the project.
