Encoding 1280x720 H.264 with Video Studio 12 ?

Post by altzone »

Hi
I'm using Video Studio 12 and am looking for a way to output my projects to 1280x720 H.264 MP4. But I can't seem to find an option to allow me to do this in VS12. A new codec required perhaps?

Up until now all my projects have been 720x576 encoded down to H.264 MP4's at 640x480 (for YouTube HD-ish) and 320x240 for my video podcasts, and that's the highest option available using the standard H.264 encoder in VS12. It's worked a treat until now.

But now I've got a new HD cam and am shooting in 1280x720 16:9 widescreen, so I want to generate 1280x720 MP4's for Youtube and a smaller 16:9 MP4 for my podcast.

Any solutions or suggestions?

Thanks
Dave.

If you put you clip into the timeline. Edit as you wish then go to Share > Create Video File > Then choose "Custom" the last in the list . Options > Compression Tag > Media Type > Click the down arrow head and choose MPEG_2 > General Tag > Then click down arrow head againnst frame size Standard . Choose 1280 X 720.

Thanks, but that's MPEG2, I'm after MPEG4.
I tried MPEG2 @ 1280x720 for a 1 minute test clip at a data rate of 8000 and my file size was almost 60MB, so that would be 600MB for each of my 10 minute Youtube clips. That's too big. Plus the quality is quite compressed during any movement.
I tried the minimum data rate of 5000 which gave me a 37MB file size but the compression is pretty horrible.

Anyone know of any MPEG4 codec plugin that will let me do 1280x720?

Dave.

I've been trying to do this also (16:9 h.264 videos that aren't 1080i). Have you found any way to do it?

Thanks,

Kevin
