Understanding Burn module

Post by Banji Abereoje »

Hi all,

At burn stage, I noticed Output settings:
a. Record to disc
b. Create DVD folder
c. Create disc image file

I quite understood a above. But my questions are:

If I tick b (to create DVD folder), I guess this will make a DVD video playback on the PC? Or how do I re-use this file made here in subsequent DVD burning without necessarily going thru rendering process again?

If I tick c (create a disc image file), what is the usage of this? While making some VCDs lately I noticed .ixa file in its window.

Is there any of the above options that is a shortcut to making same DVD video at any later time? In other words, can any of this options call up call up my already rendered video and burn direct to disc later.

Hope to hear from u soon.

BA

This option will create the two folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO T_S. YOu can then burn these to a DVD using any third party software without re-rendering. Just a straightforward burn.

This will create an ISO file which you can burn to a DVD the same as the first option. It just burns the disc in a slightly different way.

Yes as above

for option C
Up to VS 10, provides a VCD/DVD disc image recorder, a piece of software that will burn the ISO file to disc.

Thanks for your prompt reply. What if i'm not using any third party software & still want to use VS?

How then do I add this back to burn module when I'm ready to do another burn?

You don't. VS will not burn either a DVD folder or ISO file -- though as Trevor just mentioned, up to VS10 it could at least burn an ISO file with a supplied additional program. But any product like Nero or Roxio will burn both DVD folders and ISO files, so no problem...

Hi BA

In one of your other posts you say that you use VS 10.

VS 10 comes with a VCD/DVD Disc Image Recorder.

Go to your pc¡¦s START- all Programs¡XUlead Video Studio 10
Here you will find the recorder.
This will burn your ISO files to disc.

I always choose to burn to DVD folders. Doing so allows me to:

1. Preview my project, including menus, thru PowerDVD on my pc

2. Burn multiple discs at any time, without re-rendering. My software of choice for this is Nero.

Hi

Either way is ok, Disc Image or DVD Folders.

I prefer Disc Image option because I can burn using the Video Studio software,
I don¡¦t need a third party product to complete the job.

Its just personal preference, neither option is wrong.

But will you not loose this facility when you join us on the great VSx2 wagon?
