VS encountered a problem

Post by stelch »

Hi
Every time I close VS x2pro, after it closes down, I get a message " Corel VideoStudio encountered a problem and needs to close...
Any ideas where to look. Otherwise it works 100%

Hi, I get exactly the same. It's not a really a problem though, all works fine apart from that.
Very curious though??? Anyone know why?

That "problem" has been around for a few versions now. Nobody really seems to know what causes it. But as Mr. B states it is really not a problem as it doesn't seem to negatively affect anything. Therefore it is recommended that you simply ignore the message.

If you should get a message upon restart asking to recover the previous project I always answer "no" because I saved my project when I closed down.

Phew...I am relieved to hear that now; and I though that it was something wrong. Yes I also save my project before I close down so I also answer "No' when prompted to recover the previous project.

My guesstimation is the VS pre-load. When you look at Task managaer just after you first start your PC a small VS pre-load file is in the Start-up.

I think it's meant to help with VS loading faster.

I only started to encounter this message in VS Pro 12. What I do is clear the timeline after I save the project I am working on and then click on New Project before closing down and that seems to void that message. I have no rational reason why this works for me and it may not work for others, but I too, have found that the close down message doesn't affect my using the program. So I just live with it or do as described above. Take care!

I don't get the shut down error - but I don't have that VS pre-load running either. One of my pet hates are programs that install things in the windows Registry start up locations
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I regularly inspect and remove entries from there that I don't want running in the background. If you find an entry in the Registry start up locations then
Google it and establish what it is and what it does.

Remember - Messing with the windows registry can be dangerous if you do not know what it is you are doing and how to recover from a mistake. If you make a mess of the registry you could end up having to re-install Windows.
