After viewers have senn one of our holiday DVDs they seem to like what
they see but I can see a pattern in ther content and I am looking for insperation. This is the formula the finished DVDs usually end up with.
Intro with title time and place-shots of the resort sometimes zooming in
overhead (via Google earth)-hotel inside + out-scenes of places visited-
(music fading out to allow commentary to be heard)-perhaps some shots with people fading in/out or changed playback speed-Titles explaining
about the place on a moving video backgroud-music where approriate-
some PIPs of stills on a scene-then a slide show with transitions-ending
shot (closing curtain) then a credit (made with cool 3d)-well if I cant give myself some credit who can Ideas please Ken

Watch TV, movies, documentaries for fresh ideas.

And just see how very few horizontal pans, zooms and even fewer transitions there are.Black Lab wrote:Watch TV, movies, documentaries for fresh ideas.
Ideas:
This is effective.
To open a video of a new venue, sort out an image that portrays where the video was shot. Big Ben for London, Empire State for NY etc. It need only be a Town or Village sign. Then using a tripod, start the clip in a plain sky above your image (This plain sky can be the background for the title so make it a longish time shot) Then slowly pan down to you image and hold there for many seconds If you hold too long you can always split and delete.
Make at least 3 clips of this as it is easy to spoil a good clip if you jerk when you start and stop the panning. Worth taking a couple of clips in reverse ie starting with the image and panning up to the sky. I find that easier than panning down.Saves jerking at the image end! You can always reverse the clip in the timeline!

How very odd. See the word j*** in the above post. It shows as jerk on the post screen so I can't edit it
As in physical jerks
I wonder if this is a banned word on this forum. If it is I sorry if it could be seen as offensive in a country outside the UK

WOW! And all this time I thought you folks from "over the pond" were being hyper-sensitive to the "J" word.
Since that term is used often in the context of video recording may I suggest that we loosen the parameters a bit and allow the "J" word. If not, I may have to call a JERK!

Seriously though Jeff, I don't think there is a problem with the "J" word in the UK. It is used quite often in terms like Knee Jerk reaction etc. I was thinking that perhaps it was offensive in some countries to call someone a "J". It's not used that way very often here, well not to my knowledge but then I am "Terribly refined, don't you know"

The j word is one of a small handful of words that the forum software was pre-programmed by the authors of PHPBB to alter automatically.
