Hello all, my first post and relatively new at video editing.
I have Corel VideoStudio verson 12.0.98.1 pro.
I've updated my direct X and have the latest patch (I believe) on Pro X2
I'm running a single core 2.4gig AMD cpu with 2 gigs of ram and a Nvidia GeForce 7800GS 256meg video card and Windows XP Pro.
Problem: When I try to burn a DVD from a MPEG2 file that I created in Pro X2 from a .MOV video clip from my Canon PowerShot camera I get an error message (unspecified error 5:0:0) As suggested, I am clearing the program by entering New Project and then entering the video file in the create DVD stage. Everything looks okay, but I get the error about 80% of the time. I have been successful on a couple occassions going throught the same process so it's confusing/frustrating that this seems to happen randomly.
MPEG-2 Video, Lower Field First
24 bit 780x480, 4:3
29.970 fps
variable bit rate/max 6000
I will appreciate any suggestions.
unspecified error 5:0:0

Welcome to the forums,
Is your frame size a typo (780 x 480) ? To burn a DVD it must be within the DVD standards, which would be 720 x 480.
You're working with a format that is difficult to sucessfully edit (MOV). As you're finding out, it works some of the times. You might have another problem, like a transition that VS is choking on. Try looking at your video clip around the 80% mark and see what you have there. If there is a complex transition, like one of the album transitions, try removing or replacing it.

What do you mean--I Believe. are you referring to Direct X or the patch?........billymac wrote:Hello all, my first post and relatively new at video editing.

Updating Direct X is a three part process
1/ download the file
2/ run the file to extract the content to a new folder.
3 / run the extracted files by double clicking 'DXsetup.exe'

Just to add
When you hit the final Burn button the program renders the Menu.
This is indicated on the progress bar as Convert Menu.
It then continues with a few more processes.
If you first see Convert Title then your video file is being rendered,
not what you want as you have already created the Mpeg2 files.
Please confirm that you first see Convert Menu ?

Thank you both for getting back to me. In this particular case I think I solved this problem as well as another error message "unable to fine MPEG encoder"
I reinstalled VS X2 which turned out to be a Repair process and now I no longer get either error message. Must have had a corrupted file somewhere.
I haven't had a chance to try your suggestions yet, but will do so soon.
My update ? was in regards to the update of VS X2. I updated Direct X from the Microsoft site so I'm pretty sure that's up to date. I only found one update for VS X2 and applied that as well. The date for the update was several months old so I was unsure if it was the latest update. Also the 780x480 was a typo.
