How do I get more then one frame in the timeline? VS 11.5
When I had VS 9, I could get a bunch of frames in the time line. I now have VS 11 and only have one frame.
I remember I had to change a setting, but can't remember which one. Can I do this in VS 11?
If I have the frames in the time line, I can find each set of chimericals easier then in the little window.
Thank you,
Chris.

To the left and above the timeline are 3 icons. Hover your mouse over and you will find one is Storyboard View and another is Timeline View.
Storyboard view will show one "thumbnail" per video clip.
Timeline view will show the clips by their length of time. In Preferences you can choose how the clip is displayed: thumbnail & filename, thumbnail only, or filename only.

Not sure exactly how I did it, but I got it.
When I click the "-" and "+" I get little gold triangles across the top of the time line. Don't know what that is.
I wanted to have the time line show more frames to be able to find chimerical better then the little window. I can see it's not really made for that, so although I got it (Thank you!), I will have to go back to the tedious, little window I used before.
Thank you for the help,
Chris.

You are clicking the cue and chapter point markers.Put a clip in the timeline and select it(click on it)then go above where you have been clicking and click on the mddle gold icon which is the timeline view and the controls I mentioned become enabled(not grayed out)
To delete the coloured arrows select the cue or chapter point manager
and delete the markers .Chapter markers are yellow

Did you change your display options in preferences tothumbnail only?Black Lab wrote:To the left and above the timeline are 3 icons. Hover your mouse over and you will find one is Storyboard View and another is Timeline View.

cutting out parts of a clip
If you have followed the advice given and you are in the timeline view-
move along the clip to where you want to cut out a part and click the scissor icon.Move to the finish of the part you want to cut out and click the scissor icon again. Now you have 3 clips, delete the middle one that has the unwanted part

I have it now. When in Multi-trim video, I can easily chose how many frames I can display. In time line, it's set to every 2 seconds. I have to click or scroll through a lot to get to points I want to cut out.
Can I set it to, like 1 minute? Is there an easy way to change it like in multi-trim?
Thank you for all the help,
Chris.

Hi Chris
From timeline view, the view that shows the continuous video.
You can expand and contract the timeline, this allows you to view more or less frames, more or less seconds/minutes
I use VS 10
Below the preview screen is a zoom control, a slider with + and ¡V at each end.
This allows you to change the amount of frames in view, notice the ¡¥rule ¡¥ changing scale.
To the right is a square icon to ¡¥fit project to timeline¡¦ does as it says.
Float your mouse over the various icons for a tool tip.
