Hi all, I am in need of some help in trying to create a slideshow using pics for my son. Problem is, I have set ALL parameters for 16:9 format, BUT, when the pics display in the 'Preview', they appear to be in 4:3 format! There are black lines to the left & right of the screen.
Is there a 're-size' button that I can utilise so ALL pics can be widescreen/zoomed etc? I have over 700 of them!!!
Can anyone help out as to where I'm going wrong?
Huge thanks to all...............Riggers[/u]

Are your original slides actually in widescreen, or are they 4x3 images? If they're 4x3/square, that explains the "pillarboxing"...the black borders added on the sides. I don't think there's anything (that I've seen) in DMF that lets you pan/zoom an image....but I really haven't done much with slideshows.
Greg, many thanks for the response. Nearly ALL of the pics are 1024 x 682 pixels, which is 'widescreen' dimensions...sort of!
Just looks bad thats all when it comes to running the slideshow. Everything else is in widescreen format (menus, videos etc), but all the pics have the black bars on the sides & show in 4:3!! Sooo annoying!
Again, thanks for your help....................Riggers

I think your images are not widescreen dimensions. The aspect ratio needs to be 1.77 or greater. The best widescreen aspect ratio would be 2.35. The common 4:3 aspect ratio is 1.33 or 1.55.
Given the above if you use the formula for your images which are 1024x682 (1024 / 682 = 1.50) which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. Your images should be at least 1207 x 682 for widescreen, or for the 2.35 aspect ratio, 1602 x 682.

Please view:
What dimensions etc should I use for still images in Videos?
For resizing you can use most image editors, they should contain a Macro facility. a Macro is where you record something once, then play it on other pictures -such as resizing them all in one go.

Steve, that post contradicts Vidoman's post!! Meaning his version of size is related to the HD version on yours!!!
Lost now!!
It still doesn't work utilising the 1207 x 787 which is the size I re-scaled the image. I kept the original size, 1024 x 668 & ran as slide 1, then used the 1207 x 787 for slide 2. No change in the 'Preview' mode.
All parameters are set to 16:9 widescreen. Just need to be sure that the 'Preview' is the same as the final disc being burnt.
All the best as always..................
