Can anyone help me with this? Is there a way to get the Timeline frames to track (scroll) when Project play is running.
Thank You

YES - but only if you have version 9.
In the very bottom left corner of the screen to the right of the little round "Insert" button is a little icon that looks like a little ruler with a downward pointing arrow either in the middle or at one end - clicking on that will toggle timeline scrolling on or of during project play.
The only slight problem I find on my PC is that as the timeline scrolls you cannot see all of the thumbnails of the video in the timeline - they just appear as black frames, but as soon as you pause play they all re-appear again.

Gee, Brian --
You talk as if the "black frames" are a glitch only found when you run your UVS9! I would be very sorry if all I saw when the Timeline scrolled was black frames. What's the use of that?
The whole point of scrolling (which is an excellent thing to have added!) is to see what's in our movie as it moves along. I mentioned this not long ago in a post which compared the usefulness of the scrolling feature in the Sound Forge audio editing program.
I've not yet bought VS9. This is the first I've heard of this new scrolling feature but I hardly think it's worth anything if nothing is visible.

Ah right Torsten - I did wonder why sometimes I had more visible thumbnails than others, - if I do what you say and allow all thumbnails to generate and show then they are indeed all visible when the timeline scrolls.
Still not 100% good news though Keith because the scroll is not that smooth - I sort of expected the cursor to get to the middle of the screen and then the timeline would scroll past, doesnt work like that (on my PC anyrate) - when the cursor gets to the far right side of the screen the timeline jumps back half a screen to put the cursor in the middle - then when it gets to the right end it repeats etc. etc. etc.
