My picture is black and white??

Post by kayleighnewberry »

I am trying to convert my old Videos to DVDs. I think I have but all the cables in the correct place, but my picture is coming out black and white. Could you suggest some reasons for this? Could it be faulty wires or some thing else?

Thanks for any help given!!

1. Some video cards will capture Macrovision-protected material in black-and-white only.

2. I don't know where you are located, but a B&W capture through a SCART adapter + S-Video cable indicates a cable problem -- see THIS page.

Hi Heinz -oz ,

I don't know if i can explain this very well but. I have videostudio 6 and and trying to convert my old videos to dvd using a VCR. I've connectrd all the wires the s-video out and the audiofrom the back of my VCR. the audio is fine, I also get a picture but it's black and white. Not sure if I have the right setting I have a PAL VCR how would I check the setting are right? Do I have the correct wire??

Thank for the Help

If you right click a clip in the timeline and select properties this will indicate what capture settings you used.
post them here.

Kayleigh -- what do you connect your VCR to? Does it go into some sort of box which you have connected to your PC? If so, what sort of box is it? Or do you have a capture card installed inside your PC? What does your S-video cable connect to? Does it go into an S-video socket or into some sort of adaptor which, say, has S-video on the in-side, but some other connection e.g. RCA cables (yellow, red and white) on the out-side...?
