VS Pro X2 Transitions

Post by mikeb »

I have just gone from VS10 to VS pro X2. I have a VS10 project file that I use as a template. When I select ¡§Effect¡¨ to add a transition, F/X is shown and I select Crossfade which is the main one that I use. I have made a similar file for X2 but when I select Effect ¡§Film¡¨ is shown. I have to go to the pull down menu and then select F/X every time I start up X2. Is there a way to store my template file so that F/X is displayed when Effect is selected as happens with my VS10 file. I have tried selecting auto transition in the preferences menu but I don¡¦t always want transitions between every video clip so I am not using this facility. Any help would be appreciated.

What you can do is in the Preferences dialog, set the FX type to Cross-Fade, however do not check the box to automatically insert them. VS will now provide Cross-Fade (or whatever you choose) as the "default".

Another option is to edit the uvs.ini file. This is located in the Ulead.dat folder. (C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Ulead Systems/Corel VideoStudio/12.0)
Open uvs.ini using Notepad, and look for this..
[Library_Install]
Video=
Image=
Audio=
VersionCompare=0
EffectFolder=Film<--Change this to F/X.

I also use cross fade the most but have a few other pet transitions I use from time to time.

Instead of changing the default effect Folder to F/X, try changing it to My Favorites. This way you can add cross fade and a couple others if you like to your default view without all the clutter of the entire F/X folder of transitions. Try it, you'll like it!!
