In/out menu icons

When creating a menu in the UL VS Box in VS11+ what function do the
menu in/out icons provide and when exactly are they used and why.

The Menu In controls how the menu first appears on your screen (i.e. fade in). The Menu Out controls how the menu transitions to your video.

What may be confusing to some is that the Menu in/out only works on the following occasions:

1. Upon first starting a menu - e.g. after the first play video.
2. When moving from a Root Menu to a Chapter Menu.
3. When moving from a chapter menu to a root menu.
4. When moving to the actual video.

The Menu in/out does not occur between "pages" e.g. a root or chapter menu with 3 pages.
