Search and Collage

Post by woodneye »

Can someone please tell me where there is a "search" function in this forum; and how to create a 'collage'. not PSP's definition of collage but the kind where several pictures are displayed in one picture? Thanks.

Well the forum search option is available right at the top of the page. You probably see all of those blue text links above the grey pictures there.

So I copied the link for you and you can find it here. But it's right there at the top of the page as well.

As for a collage, I don't know what PSP's idea of a collage is so I don't know what you're comparing. And I know someone will come by to answer you. But as far as I know you put a whole bunch of pictures into one canvas. Essentially open all of the pictures you want to use in the collage and copy them into the larger image. I mean collages don't have a single method. And there are many types. If you're talking about those tiny pictures that when put together make up a much larger image (those fancy things that boggle my mind) then if you're not an artist you'll need specialty software for that. And I have no recommendations.

Well, as mentioned, I am not sure what you mean by collage. I make collages....here's what I do.

1) Create a Base image in the size and pixel count I want....as I get them printed, I usually use 300 pixels.

2) Open the picture I want on the collage and resize it including using the same pixel count (there will be a big problem if you use a different count.)

3) Copy the pic and then paste it onto the collage using (I think) paste as new layer.

4) Move it around with the move tool.

5) Save the "mother" collage as a PSP image. You can continue to manipulate the layers that way.

6) Repeat with other pictures

7) When done, resave the collage in whatever format you are going to print (I send mine over the internet, so have to convert to jpeg for printing.)

That's is. I hope this is what you were looking for.

You may know this already.....but by using psp format and layers, you can also change (very easily) the base layer of the collage. I have also used a very faded or BW photo as the back layer of my collage. Very easy to manipulate using psp format and layers.
