Converting AVCHD to HDV

Post by Gotte »

I see you can batch convert AVCHD files to HDV, which I read should make them easier for Videostudio to handle. I can see the function, but what should the output settings be. I'm assuming MPEG2, but what should the settings within the MPEG2 dropdown be?

Many thanks

Hi

I do not use AVCHD or HD video, not taken the plunge just yet.
Nor use X2 only VS 10

VS 10 uses a standard template for Mpeg2 HD maybe X2 gives more choice.(i assume you are using X2)
Look in Share Create Video File for Mpeg2 HD, this should give you an idea.

Where possible I would think it best to keep your Mpeg2 HD properties the same as AVCHD when creating the template.
From VS 10 the template MPEG2 HD properties are:-

MPEG files
24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(MPEG-2), 16:9
Video data rate: 25000 kbps
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

The settings above are for Pal, you dont say which you use????????????

There is some useful info regarding Mpeg2 HD settings here:-

...And those are the rock-standard properties for HDV video... regardless of the version of Video Studio you are using.

Many thanks. I am using X2, but can't see a template for MPEG2 HD, just MPEG 2. But now I know the properties, I can check to see they're identical.

Again, many thanks.

Oh, and yes, it is PAL, BTW.

There should be a template (indeed two) Share > Create Video File > HDV.
