I know that this is not the right forum for my question about camcorder batteries but I have to start somewhwere.I am sure that there used to be
a general discussion forum or simular,on my attempts to get there I have selected ie other Coral Software and popular products but have been told that those forums do not exist.

And Ken, I am afraid your post gives us absolutely no clue as to what you actually want from us. Yes, totally wrong forum to discuss batteries. No, absolutely no idea where you might look on this Board... Hopefully someone might be more helpful with that.

But heavens above, haven't you done a Google search with your camera model and asked for batteries! My goodness, each time I put in any camera model, when I am looking for something completely different, about 60% of the responses inevitably, regardless of the camera, relate to spare batteries for it!!! And that is NEVER mentioning batteries. Heaven only knows what I would get if I actually included the wretched B.... word!!!!

Sorry to rant, but a Google search is where I start almost anything... and my current job is as a research coordinator for an international commission on nuclear issues. No batteries, but Google almost invariably supplies me with what I need on the very first page of search results!!!...

I have selected ie other Coral Software and popular products
Those are forum Categories, not specific forums. To post questions or discussions that are not related to any Corel product you need to post them in the General Discussions category, under Video and DVD, or Forum Chat. Since this web board deals with software, mainly those of Corel, the former InterVideo and/or Ulead, we do not provide specific forums for hardware..

Moved to the Video and DVD Forum..

Have to agree with Ken. Google very rarely fails. I run a very small computer help forum for beginners and they are constantly sending me a problem concerning "Error Messages". I always go to Google and inevitably find the answer which I just copy and post in a reply to them. They all think I am a genius and cannot understand how I hold so much information in my head. I will shatter their illusions soon an come clean 8)
But perhaps not yet

Try This Link
Whilst not specifically dealing with camcorder batteries it does give a good overview of the various types of battery.
NiCD
NIMH
Zinc
Li On
and lots more.

Also take into account when purchasing rechargeable batteries - not just the type (like the small list above) but also its power (MaH) the bigger the number the longer they last. Compare these few:

The same is true with camcorder batteries, they come in different sizes

Thanks for all the info,I sit suitably chastised as I thought I would be.The original question I had in mind was to to with battery compatability when
replacing origiinals. For instance I have been trying to find a replacement
for my wifes little JVC GR DX107 cam.The battery had a rating of DC 7.2v
and 700nAh.The nearesrt Ive found is 7.4v and 800mAh.I was wondering
about damage to the cam and charger if these values are not the same
