Project question for VS proX2

Post by sttork »

2 questions, actually:

1) How can I use a BLANK template (text only with my own image for background)? It seems that every template I tried has a bit of the original background bleeding through.

and

2) question using these steps:

a) Start a new project in VS proX2
b) Load an intro vid clip into timeline
c) Save-As the project with a proj name.
d) Go to create DVD
e) Add more vid segments to proj and create menu
f) save prog at this time using Control S
g) go to last page and save image file for use later

This works fine - and the iimage file is perfect for making copies later.

The problem is if I want to come back later and I load in the saved project, all it saved is the original intro vid clip; nothing I had done after that was saved in the proj file. Did I miss a step somewhere so that the entire proj file is saved and accessible later?

Hi

When you ¡¥close¡¦ the burner module you see a progress bar indicating that it is saving the project.
You are taken back to the edit timeline, to the original project.

Now save the project using File Save or Save As, this should save the details you created in the Create Disc stage.

Further editing to the projects used, may adversely affect the content of the details in the Create Disc stage.

You should be able to open the original project, go direct to Create Disc and all should be intact.

however...

I didn't actually burn it at that time - I just made the image file. Do I have to actually burn a DVD to get it to where I save it intact?

No, what Trevor is saying is, while in the Create Disc stage but before burning, if you close the Create Disc window it will indicate that it is saving. But it doesn't really save anything until you go to File>Save or Save As.

So to save it I have to go back to the edit screen and then do a Save As? That doesn't make much sense. If I am in the editor and go to the burn program it will bring it over as one file. And vice-versa. And there isn't a Save As option in the menu-making (burn) program section that I can find - I can only do a Control S to save there. I'm really confused...

I can't just do a Control S in the burn (menu) page?

No it doesn't, I agree.

Not sure what you are saying.

No there is not. That is why we are telling you to do the Save when you get back to the timeline.

Apparently not. You tried that and it didn't save your changes.

to clarify...

This is going off on a tangent - let's clarify and simplify things.

I start a project in the EDIT mode - then make a menu in the BURN TO DVD mode after adding a few clips.

At exactly what point can I save the project (with menu intact) in order to come back later and re-edit it?

As has been stated, if after you create your menu you want to save the menu settings you need to close out of the burner module. That will prompt a message that it is "saving". (What it saves we are not quite sure) and will take you back to the editing timeline. At that point you go to Share>Save or Save As.

Opening that saved project and going to the burner module you will see your menu as you have set it up.

Yep - that did it! Appreciate the patience and help on this matter - it was frustrating to say the least!

Yes, this is what was said - it just seemed so strange a backwards way to do it that I didn't think it would work. When back in the edit mode I just saw one file there so I assumed it didn't work. Thanks again.

I just noticed that the FIRST part of my original 2 questions was never answered - do you have a quick-and-easy answer for it?

Can you post an example? I always use my own images as menu backgrounds and I have never noticed the original image "bleeding through".
