Vimeo Uploads and AVCHD options in VSX2

Post by thptrek »

I am using VSX2 and was trying to create a video file from my Canon HF200 files which are .MTS files. Vimeo would like the HD files in MPEG-4 (which I believe is same as AVCHD) in 1280X720.

When I use Create Video File>AVCHD my options are 1920 or 1440. There is no 1280 option.

I tried using Make Movie Template to make a template and chose MPEG-4 but the max data rate is only 2000 and the max frame size is 720X576.

Is the best option to use the AVCHD 1920 option and then let Vimeo rescale the image?

What are other users of VSX2 using to create video files from their projects to upload onto Vimeo? Thanks.

For those who are following this thread, I am working with a guy on the Vimeo boards who uses VSX2 to post very high quality HD videos on Vimeo. I will post the settings once I get it all.

Here is my follow up for those who want to use Vimeo to showcase their HD videos. First I downloaded and installed CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). Just google this and your will find it. This loads all the codecs you need and includes a great HD video player.

Then in Corel ProX2 you go to Share/Create Video File, select Custom then in "Save as type" select "Windows AVI Files(*.avi)" then in Options under the General tab you change the settings to User-defined and Width 1280 Height 720 and whatever your frame rate is, also make sure it is set to Frame-based,

Then I go to the AVI tab and in the Compresion box I select "ffdshow Video Codec" and set it to h264 (or MPEG 4) and slide the slider to around 5000kbps. For audio it defaults to PCM audio and I leave it as PCM and just change it to 44100kHz 16bit Stereo.

This gives me a very high quality HD video that can be posted in full HD glory on Vimeo or viewed on your computer using the CCCP included player or WMP.

Thanks to Mr. Bryan Sellars on for his help on these settings.

Yes be very cautious when installing codecs (not the whole pack). It is possible with some of these codec packs to install just the codec you need. Installing the full pack can lead to undesirable results, overwriting other codecs that you already have with older and conflicting codecs..

Thanks for that glad to be of help, I too would like to add my thanks to Dennis Aalders for his instructions on using the AVI presets to output 1280X720 DivX. I just added ffdshow h264 and have since found if I use SuperC to alter the PCM default sound to AAC it works on both Vimeo and Youtube if you want to check out a short video on how I now set it up I have put identical copies on Vimeo and Youtube,
