VS9 Auto Music: any improvements?
The Auto Music feature in VS8 was the main reason I bought the program. Ulead is currently saying that VS9 has a "second generation" auto music generator that can generate an infinite number of tunes. However, when I installed the VS9 trial, all I saw were the tracks that I had in VS8, plus a bunch of previews of tracks that I had to purchase.
Can anyone tell me how the Auto Music in VS9 has improved?
And to put my 2 cents on another thread on this board, I too was shocked to see virtually all my SmarSound tracks deleted (except for two) when I attempted to update the SmartSound library in the VS9 trial. I thought this was VS9 detecting an "unauthorized" installation of SmartSound because it was a trial version, forgetting the fact that I have a fully licensed VS8 version. Fortunately for me, I had Ghosted my drive prior to installing the trial, so I immediately restored the image, blowing away my short experiment with VS9.

I had VS8 and installed VS9. All the tracks were there upon install.
I also have a couple of dozen discs of Smart Sound. Very good stuff.

Are you referring to the discs that SmarSound sells separately? I looked at their stuff and it's very good. But it's priced out of my range. (Especially for us in Canada, after the exchange, shipping, and taxes...)
I was interesting in hearing about VS9's Auto Sound feature as-is, out of the box. From the sounds of it, it looks like it's the same as in VS8. I was just wondering what Ulead meant by "second generation auto sound generator"....
Thx.

Did you create a new folder seperate from your Ulead folder for the trial version? It says to do this

The inclosed music seems to be the same. If there is any differences, it is in how the music works with the program.Centauri27 wrote:

Note also that there is a patch for the Quicktracks software that may be required to get it all working on your system in VS9.

From inside the Quicktracks feature, you can buy additional tunes one by one for download. No shipping or customs!

Auto Sound improvements in VS9?
Yes, I saw that. That's about the only thing that's tempting me so far. However, they appear to offer downloads only for individual tracks, at $7 a pop. If you want the entire CD with all the tracks, they seem to force you to buy a physical disk. I wish they would they would offer an all-electronic download, like buying a CD from Puretrack.richardnau wrote: From inside the Quicktracks feature, you can buy additional tunes one by one for download. Re: Sound Tracks
Yes, the trial was installed in a separate "VS9" folder that's different from my VS8 folder. However, it still seems to use the same SmartSound folder for the music.woxof wrote:Did you create a new folder seperate from your Ulead folder for the trial version? It says to do this

Actually, all my SmartSounds showed up normally after installing the VS9 trial. (I'm not sure whether this was from the VS9 trial or from my current VS8 installation.) The tracks only disappeared after I went and asked it to update my SmartSound libraries. Maybe that's when the program went "Hmmm....this is a TRIAL version. There shouldn't be any SmartSound tracks here.! Must delete them!!"THoff wrote:The SmartSound software has a feature to scan the hard disk(s) for SmartSound libraries -- that might have resolved the problem of your tracks disappearing after installing UVS 9.
In fact, I thought that SmartSound wasn't even included in any of the trial versions?

the tracks supplied by Smartsound are demos and have a limited spool sequence i have found ie they are very repetative.
if you get a full disc ( i have blockbuster vol 1) the music variations are endless from just one track.
Also they are not copyright free! you can only use them for personal projects. if you want to share them you need to buy a commercial licence. just a word of warning here.
I agree that in vs8 i had the pinnacle ones showing aswell vs8.
since vs9 i still have a pinnalce folder but some have been removed.
