Matching slide duration to commentary.

With the Nero Vision program I can add an audio file for each slide and elect for each slide to be displayed for the duration of its corresponding audio file. I realise that I can do this manually in VS by adding an image, then adding its audio file and then adjusting the duration for the image to match the duration of the audio. Doing it like that is time-consuming and pretty tedious so can anyone suggest how it can be done more efficiently?
