streak of light

i have words moving aroud the screen, coming to rest in the center. i want a narrow highlight beam of light moving acros the words form left uo right. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?
There are a couple ways of doing this.
1) You could always set the lighting with any of the options: spot, point, direction. Manually configure the movement with key frames. Also under material attributes, lighting can be changed to the way it will be displayed on the object by default.
2) Easier. Use the Madness III plugin "Light Bulb". You can set the hemi light to be vertical or horizontal and pass the object in the same fashion. Set key frames and you're set.
