I have just joined the forum. I had been using Video Studio 10 for three years fairly successfully making DVD's of our holidays and family events. Earlier this year the programme said it could not find my Sony Camcorder when I tried to capture videos from the Mini-DV tape. I had been using this camcorder for three years also.
Because of this I recently ugraded to Video Studio ProX2 and find it crashes frequently. I have not been able to burn onto DVD as the programme only runs for about 7-10 minutes before crashing.
I found this forum through google and have been corresponding with a fellow member Trevor Andrew who suggested I upgrade from the Corel site - done - and to update Direct X which I am about to do this morning.
Any other suggestions as to how to sort the problem will be very much appreciated!

Welcome to the forums,
Sounds like Trevor has been out recruiting..
Don't know what Trevor has already advised, aside from the upgrades, but it appears that you may have developed a problem with your firewire connection. This could be a faulty cable (which is the best), or the port on the camera or your PC. You should see an icon in your My Computer, just like another disk drive. Windows should also play a tone when it sees this connection. Is that happening? Firewire cables and cards are very inexpensive, so replacing them should be no problem. However if it is in the camcorder, well might be time to upgrade your camcorder..
Hopefully updating DirectX will fix your crashing problem with VS Pro. If it does not, let us know. Try to keep your background applications running to an absolute minimum while dealing with video. Video applications need all the resources they can muster.
